Containers are a medium of transporting goods from one place to the
other. It is transported via flights through air, trucks through
land, and ships through water. The containers may have
many things like food stuffs, raw materials,
metals, commodities etc as
goods. Before transporting, we have
to make sure that it does not contain any live foreign
bodies like pests, rodents or termites in it. We cant let them so
because, they can cause serious damages to the goods on the
go or can even cause contamination.
Spreading of diseases are also a
threat.
To keep goods inside the container free from these pests we use the method like fumigation, in which the loaded container is sealed from outside and treated with poisonous gases for a specific time. Its sure that no pest/ rodent/ termite will come out alive after the treatment. The exports rule declares that, for exporting goods to foreign countries, container must be treated with specific amount of fumigants to avoid above mentioned hazards.
